Officers were called to allegations of a dog attack in the Wales town of Brynmawr, and two persons were taken into custody.
On Monday at approximately 5:50 p.m., Gwent Police officers arrived at a residence located on The Crescent in the community of Nantyglo.
The force stated that the 12-year-old girl had “life-changing injuries” and was brought to the hospital.
Officers took possession of the dog, which will now be exterminated. The attack involved no other animals.
Two people from the Brynmawr region, a 37-year-old man and a 42-year-old woman, have been taken into custody on suspicion of having a dog that was bred for fighting and of having a dog that was dangerously out of control.
“For those involved, this was a distressing incident,” Superintendent John Davies stated. I want to provide the local population the assurance that there is no more risk to the general public.
As part of this work, you might observe continuing police activity in Nantyglo. While police were responding to the incident earlier this evening, you might have seen a larger presence.
