Microsoft claims Recall, which stores encrypted pictures locally on your computer, will be exclusive to its upcoming Copilot+ PCs.
However, the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) said it is contacting Microsoft for further information on the product’s safety, which privacy advocates have dubbed a potential “privacy nightmare”.
Microsoft describes Recall as a “optional experience” and emphasizes its commitment to privacy and security.
According to its website, users “can limit which snapshots Recall collects”.
The company released a statement saying, “Recall data is only stored locally and cannot be accessed by Microsoft or anyone who does not have device access.”
