In a thorough statement on X, the office of PPP Senator Sherry Rehman denied a “ongoing troll campaign” that claimed the lawmaker had misused US monies that were given to the Jinnah Institute (JI).
Richard Grenell, a former US diplomat and the US President-elect Donald Trump’s choice for envoy for special missions, tweeted that Rehman had been “exposed” for accepting money from the National Endowment for Democracy (NED), sparking the uproar.
Grenell supported the claims that Rehman received about half a million dollars from the NED on X (previously Twitter), writing: “What a waste of US taxpayer money.” Sherry has come to light.
In a flurry of posts, the senator’s office on X (@SRehmanOffice) promptly responded, flatly rejecting the accusations.
