As more nations warn of the potentially deadly effects of consuming tainted booze in the Southeast Asian nation, an Australian youngster has become the sixth foreign visitor to die in a suspected mass methanol poisoning in Laos.
Authorities said a string of suspected poisonings in the well-known backpacker resort of Vang Vieng has also resulted in the deaths of a British woman, another Australian adolescent, an American, and two Danes in recent days.
Holly Bowles, 19, has been in critical condition on life support in neighboring Thailand for several days after being evacuated from Laos following a night out, according to affiliate News. On Thursday, her 19-year-old pal Bianca Jones passed away.
