Prior to the shift of power in the United States, Dr. Aafia Siddiqui, a Pakistani neuroscientist who is presently serving an 86-year sentence in the Federal Medical Center (FMC) Carswell in Fort Worth, Texas, has requested a presidential pardon, calling her incarceration “a blatant miscarriage of justice.”
According to Sky News, Siddiqui, who has been imprisoned in the United States for more than 14 years, expressed hope that she will be released after “new evidence” surfaced that would prove her innocence.
She hopes “the tide could now be turning” and has insisted on her innocence.
The British television channel heard her say, “I hope I am not forgotten, and I hope that one day soon I will be released,” via her attorney.
“To put it simply, I am a victim of injustice. It’s pain every day.
