KARACHI: Saeed Ghani, the Sindh Minister for Local Government, criticized the news on Monday that relief would be provided to people in Punjab for a just two months, calling it a political ploy and demanding lasting relief for civilians.
The provincial minister made the statement in response to the Punjab government’s declaration that it will help the common people by reducing power prices by Rs. 14 per unit for the months of August and September.
The leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, Nawaz Sharif, announced at a news conference on August 16 that the Punjab government had developed a relief package that included a reduction in the power bill of Rs. 14 per unit for those using up to 500 units of energy.
“The relief will be given in the bills of August and September,” he stated.
