A July 2013 email conversation between the inquiry and Mark Davies, the then-director of communications, regarding an investigation into many convictions the Post Office was aware of at the time but which might have been erroneous due to its IT system, was displayed.
As he had informed her, examining “recent” historical cases or those “going further back” would “fuel the story” and be “very high profile” in media terms.
