Five suspects in the brutal attack on model and salon owner Zainab Jamil have been taken into custody by police, marking a major advancement in the investigation.
SP Cantt Owais Shafiq verified the arrests and provided information about the defendants’ roles in the assault. The shooters’ motorcycle and weapons were given by one of the main suspects, Zia.
According to the investigation, Zainab Jamil’s driver Adeel was in charge of telling her husband Sardar Jamil about her whereabouts. The attack was carried out as a result of Adeel informing Sardar Jamil about Zainab’s visit to the salon on the day of the event.
SP Cantt Owais Shafiq further revealed that Zia transported the gunmen in addition to providing the motorcycle and weapons.
The gunmen were from Karachi and belonged there; they flew into Lahore and then drove back.
The SP added that teams have departed for Karachi in order to apprehend the two gunmen.
Zainab’s husband, Sardar Jamil, is currently free on bond through June 30. It has come to light that Sardar Jamil and Zia exchanged money for Rs5.5 million.
In 2017, Sardar Jamil and Zainab Jamil tied the knot, making Sardar Jamil’s second marriage. He allegedly disapproved of Zainab’s showbiz profession, which could have played a role in the attack’s motivation.
