Net metering and alternative energy sources are becoming more and more popular among citizens. This shift towards more economical and sustainable choices has been fueled by increased basic power bills as well as additional fixed costs.
In the last year, the number of net metering consumers has increased from 60,000 to 200,000, thereby tripling its proportion in Pakistan’s energy mix and increasing capacity from 1,500 MW to 3,000 MW, according to a report by Samaa news.
This change has helped to lower the amount of electricity drawn from the national grid by 12% annually.
