After falling from a boat into water “infested” with sharks and crocodiles, Sir Ian Botham, a cricket star from England, was saved by a former Australian opponent.
The retired all-rounder fell headfirst into the Moyle River near Darwin, northern Australia, while fishing with former Australian fast-bowler Merv Hughes. His flip-flops became entangled in some roping.
When Sir Ian, also known as Beefy, struck the boat while descending, he sustained significant bruising to his torso. However, Hughes and other fisherman swiftly hauled him out, sparing him from a worse destiny.
