ISLAMABAD: On Thursday, Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) emphasized the offensive language used by firebrand activist Sanam Javaid of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and asked her attorney to guarantee that such behavior won’t happen again.
Judge Aurangzeb made the comment, “[I] saw [Sanam] Javaid using inappropriate language on the internet,” during the PTI leader’s release petition hearing.
Due to the May 9 riots, which were started by the arrest of Imran Khan, the founder of the PTI and former prime minister, in a graft case that resulted in the vandalism of various military installations, Javaid has been involved in court fights for months.
In four cases altogether, including the most recent one brought by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), she has been found not guilty.
The PTI activist received significant relief on Monday when the high court ruled in favor of her release and barred the police and other law enforcement organizations from detaining her till Thursday (today).
The orders were issued by the court after her father filed a motion to challenge his daughter’s arrest, which had occurred shortly after her release, in the FIA-reported case.
