The company that makes phones under the Nokia brand, HMD Global, has released a phone under the Barbie name that has a traditional “flip” shape but no internet access. At $130, the phone is geared toward those looking to go digitally minimalist and hopes to profit from the current craze for “dumb phones.”
The bright pink gadget has a large “Barbie” emblem with a 0.3-megapixel camera, flash light, and detachable back cover. It also comes with a pastel beaded phone strap and stickers with a Barbie motif.
The collaboration between HMD Global and Mattel, the massive toy company that created the Barbie brand, produced the Barbie phone. After being released in the U.K., it is anticipated to be accessible in the United States shortly.
