In reaction to any “provocation,” North Korea has warned to launch an instant military attack against South Korea. Leader Kim Jong Un’s influential sister and main ally, Kim Yo Jong, issued the ultimatum on Sunday after Pyongyang allegedly launched artillery shells close to its border with South Korea for the third straight day.The statements come in response to military reports from South Korea claiming that the North launched more than sixty artillery rounds on Saturday close to their disputed maritime border. A comparable barrage of almost 200 shots was documented the day before. The South claims that North Korea fired more than ninety rounds on Sunday. Since around 4 p.m., the North Korean military has started practicing exercises to the north of Yeonpyeong, the front-line island in South Korea.
