Sofia Alonso-Mossinger remarked, “I thought it was a toy – and then it moved,” and she described it as “pretty scary”.
The University of Bristol resident’s roommates assisted her in moving the poisonous intruder into a tub so that an expert could retrieve it.
When contacted for comment, China-based Shein stated it was investigating the situation.
According to the student majoring in electrical and electronic engineering, “I unzipped the outer packaging and saw something move and was like, what’s this?”
Ms. Alonso-Mossinger, 18, rezipped the bag containing the pair of boots and removed it from her after realizing it was a scorpion.
“I believed I was dreaming,” she remarked. “I think I can handle spiders and other creepy crawlies, but having a random scorpion in my room was terrifying.”
The 18-year-old Phoebe Hunt claimed that she heard screams and hurried outside to see her roommate “had a live scorpion in a bag on her boots.”
“Not exactly buzzing to have a scorpion in the flat,” she remarked.
To be honest, at first I thought we should kill it, but after hearing from everyone that that wasn’t the most humane thing to do, we picked it up and placed it in a Tupperware container.
Using kitchen tongs, Oliver James, a fellow zoology student, moved the scorpion into a plastic container.
