Founded in 2019, the Professional Tennis Players Association (PTPA) seeks to strengthen player authority in the game.
It holds that access to outside attorneys should be funded by the four majors, the men’s ATP Tour, and the women’s WTA Tour in order to ensure that money does not stand in the way of a prompt and strong defense.
They contend that regardless of a player’s ranking, it would make the system more equitable.
Novak Djokovic brought up this issue during the recent US Open, where he co-founded the PTPA.
According to him, the issue is whether a player can afford to spend a sizable sum of money to a legal company that would then more effectively represent their case.
To ensure that every player receives the same treatment regardless of his rating, status, or profile, I believe it is imperative that we all look into ways to standardize everything.
