After a brief weekend break that allowed personnel to make some headway against the fatal infernos in Los Angeles County, another round of fire-fueled Santa Ana winds is tearing through Southern California.
Karen Bass, the mayor of Los Angeles, declared on Monday that everyone must be on high alert. “We ask Angelenos to be ready in case they need to evacuate, as Los Angeles and partner firefighters are already deployed.”
The National Weather Service issued “particularly dangerous situation” red flag warnings for a large portion of the foothills and mountainous regions of Ventura and Los Angeles counties, including Malibu, from noon on Monday to 10 a.m. PT on Tuesday. This means that conditions like low humidity and strong winds will make fires more likely.
