The lady who was burned to death on a Brooklyn subway train after being set on fire has been identified by New York City police.
Debrina Kawam, 61, of New Jersey was named by authorities on Tuesday as the victim of the apparently random attack on December 22 that left her body completely charred.
The 33-year-old Sebastian Zapeta is charged with using a lighter to ignite the fire while Ms. Kawam was asleep. From a bench outside the subway car, he allegedly watched the fire spread after fanning the flames with a shirt.
Mr. Zapeta, who says he has no recollection of the incident, was charged by a grand jury last week with four murders and one arson charge.
