BERLIN: Elon Musk will welcome the head of the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) on X on Thursday, raising worries in Brussels and Berlin over the US billionaire’s potential interference in the country’s national election campaign on February 23.
Last year, Musk helped Republican Donald Trump win reelection as US president by using X and his enormous riches.
He is now openly endorsing far-right and anti-establishment parties throughout Europe.
In 2022, the richest man in the world launched Tesla’s first European facility in Germany, which is a major economic force in Europe.
Berlin was alarmed when Musk last month endorsed the AfD, a “anti-immigration, anti-Islamic” party that German security authorities have labeled as right-wing-extremist. Cooperation with the AfD has been rejected by other German parties.
