Pakistan’s indigenous electro-optical (EO-1) satellite will be launched on January 17th, according to a Monday announcement from the Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (Suparco).
The satellite’s launch from China’s Jiuquan Satellite Launch Centre (JSLC) will represent a major turning point in Pakistan’s technology and space exploration achievements.
“The launch of the indigenous EO-1 mission reflects SUPARCO’s dedication and expertise in advancing Pakistan’s technological capabilities in space science and innovation,” the organization stated in a statement.
According to the statement, this domestically produced satellite is a major milestone in Pakistan’s space technology development and will improve the nation’s capacity to monitor and manage natural resources, anticipate and respond to natural disasters, support food security, and spur economic growth through sustainable development and well-informed decision-making.
