NEW DELHI: Former teammates Harbhajan Singh and Cheteshwar Pujara claim that India captain Rohit Sharma’s poor batting performance is hurting his leadership in Australia.
In his last 12 test innings, Rohit has only scored one half-century, including eight single-figure scores. The opener, who only managed three and six in Adelaide, was not helped by playing in the middle order in the second test.
In order to tend to his newborn son, Rohit missed India’s resounding victory in the first test in Perth. Commentators also thought his captaincy in Adelaide, where Australia won by 10 wickets, was rather defensive.
Singh, a former spinner for India, told Star Sports that he is constantly concerned about his performance, regardless of how successful he is.
