Reddit shares soared more than 10% after the company announced a partnership with artificial intelligence (AI) start-up OpenAI.
According to the arrangement, the business behind the ChatGPT chatbot would have access to Reddit material while also introducing AI-powered features to the social media network.
The statement emphasizes Reddit’s efforts to diversify its revenue sources beyond advertising.
The agreement also comes as an increasing number of copyright holders file legal objections to the usage of their property by AI corporations.
On Thursday, Sony, the world’s largest music publisher, addressed letters to Google, Microsoft, and OpenAI seeking to know whether their songs had been utilized to develop AI systems.
