On Sunday, footage of a fight that broke out during a 7-on-7 football tournament in Atlanta went viral on social media, making NFL MVP quarterback Cam Newton the talk of the town.
Coaches TJ and Steph Brown, two of the men engaged in the confrontation, said that Newton’s behavior over the course of the weekend eventually resulted in the physical altercation, which began with him holding Steph before TJ delivered a punch.
TJ said News on Monday, “It just should never have gotten to that.”
Unfortunately, TJ and Steph—who coach wide receivers at all levels and oversee TopShelf Performance’s (TSP) 7-on-7 teams—saw the situation festering not just this weekend but for a considerable amount of time.
Within the corporation, tensions increased, particularly when TJ’s team was defeating Newton’s team. TJ and Steph made the decision to leave C1N in 2022 and form TSP, a 7-on-7 squad of their own.
