Umer Farooq Zahoor, a Pakistani businessman living in the United Arab Emirates, has been named a Goodwill Ambassador by the Intergovernmental Institution for the Use of Micro-algae Spirulina Against Malnutrition (IIMSAM), a certified observer to the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).
Through the promotion of spirulina, a micro-alga noted for its nutritional advantages, this job seeks to further the UN’s Millennium Development Goals.
Zahoor’s nomination as Pro Bono Ambassador at Large was verified by IIMSAM Permanent Secretary General Remigio Maradona in an official communication. This role, which is housed in the Secretary General’s office, is crucial to IIMSAM’s effort to combat global malnutrition by giving out free spirulina, with an emphasis on underdeveloped areas like Pakistan.
