U.S. In an investigation of the automaker’s recall of more than 2 million vehicles to install additional Autopilot safeguards in December, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is requesting comprehensive responses and documentation from Tesla for the vehicle.
Following reports of 20 crashes involving cars that had the Autopilot software updates installed as part of Tesla’s recall, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said last month that it was conducting an investigation. In its letter, the agency stated that it had found “several concerns” and opened a new tab for the recall.
Tesla stated in December that the purpose of its largest-ever recall, which affected 2.03 million American cars, or almost all of its cars on American roads, was to make sure users of its cutting-edge driver assistance system paid attention.
