The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) received complaints from two customers that they were unable to locate rooms for that amount, therefore Premier Inn had to change their advertisement for “£45 rooms”.
Only a few hotels offered the £45 rooms, according to Premier Inn’s parent firm Whitbread.
It consented to change the advertisement to state that only a few hotels were participating in the promotion and to add a link to all of the hotels.
Since Premier Inn accepted the modifications, no official ruling was made available or published.
The company is the largest hotel operator in the UK, running over 800 hotels there alone.
Since May, this is the third time the regulator has gotten involved in a Premier Inn campaign.
An advertisement for £35 hotel rooms was banned due to the first concern raised during the time, which was that it was “likely to mislead” viewers. The ASA verdict said that only a small portion of all rooms were offered at the discounted price.
