As strong pre-monsoon rains battered the nation’s capital, an incident occurred at around five in the morning local time on Friday at Indira Gandhi International Airport’s domestic departure terminal in New Delhi.
According to the airport administration, all airline departures from Terminal 1 were momentarily halted while rescuers cleared the rubble in order to save any stranded passengers.
According to local media, other support beams also gave way, causing damage to cars in the terminal’s pickup and drop-off area.
One of the six injured was saved from a car that had an iron beam fall upon it.
First responders were at the scene, according to civil aviation minister K Rammohan Naidu, who also advised airlines to help any impacted passengers.
