Mehrzad, whose real name is Morteza Mehrzadselakjani, is an 8-foot-eight-inch tall Iranian sitting volleyball champion who has won two Paralympic titles.
But according to his coach, he’s sleeping on the floor in Paris, despite having a specially-made bed for the Tokyo Paralympics.
He doesn’t have a separate bed, but he is focused on the most crucial goal, Olympics.com was told by head coach Hadi Rezaeigarkani.
For him, it makes little difference if he ends up on the floor or goes without food. He is mentally capable of winning.
Since their debut in Seoul 1988, Run has participated in nine competitions and won seven of them.
He was found by Coach Rezaeigarkani when the potential athlete discussed the difficulties he experiences in his daily life in an appearance on an TV show in 2011.
During his adolescent years, Mehrzad was involved in a bicycle accident that left him with a damaged pelvis and restricted growth in his right leg.
