The conflicts in the Middle East, South Sudan, and Ukraine have increased tensions worldwide and widened the challenges pertaining to sustainable development, climate change mitigation, and peace and security. These days’ problems are inextricably linked to information, one way or another.
The quick transmission capabilities of current communication tools and internet platforms promote the generation and dissemination of progressively tainted information through fabrication, manipulation, and distortion. Such manipulation aims to undermine scientific findings and quell opposition in order to further a variety of political, social, and cultural goals, including during times of conflict and peace.
It’s getting more and harder to separate the truth from the complex web of lies and misinformation. Not even prestigious organizations like the UN are exempt.
