In a resolute concession speech at Howard University, Vice President Kamala Harris urged her supporters to “keep fighting” for their convictions and promised a peaceful handover of power to Donald Trump.
“We have to accept the outcome of the election. “Earlier today, I congratulated President-elect Trump on his victory,” Harris said. She contrasted democracy with monarchy or dictatorship and underlined the significance of upholding election results as a defining characteristic of democracy.
“We owe our loyalty to the Constitution and our conscience, not to a president or a party,” Harris reaffirmed. Speaking to her followers, Hillary expressed her understanding of their disappointment following Trump’s win and urged them to keep up their fight for their principles.
