K-Electric (KE) power bills will be subject to a new municipal tax, which has been announced by the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC). The amount of electricity used will determine the tax rate.
The extra fees that will be added to electricity bills are as follows:
20 rupees for 101–200 units
40 rupees for 201–300 units
For 301 to 400 units, pay Rs. 100.
For 401 to 500 units, pay Rs. 125.
150 rupees for 500–600 units
175 rupees for 601–700 units
300 rupees if more than 700 units are used.
For commercial and industrial customers, KMC has established a consistent tariff of Rs400 as part of the new Municipal Utility Charges and Taxes (MUCT) applied to K-Electric (KE) bills.
