The chief minister presided over a meeting where important decisions about the wellbeing of laborers were taken.
The performance of the Labour Department was evaluated at the meeting, and representatives briefed the CM on the results.
During the meeting, the projects pertaining to the workers’ scholarship program, labor colonies, and worker health facilities were examined.
The chief minister of Punjab has also ordered that Rs. 6 billion be paid in death benefits and marriage grants for laborers. Maryam Nawaz instructed the construction of two hostels for female workers in the garment city, and the request was granted.
She also declared that 704 women workers in Sheikhupura would have free housing.
The CM also gave instructions to guarantee the execution of minimum wage laws, workplace safety and health regulations, and labor reforms.
CM Maryam Nawaz declared that all relevant parties would be consulted before enforcing the minimum salary of Rs37,000. She emphasized that the government was in charge of ensuring the safety of every worker.
She listed the difficulties laborers confront and emphasized the importance of putting SOPs and workplace safety protocols into place, as well as providing safety equipment for hygienic workers.
