ISLAMABAD Pakistan’s Federal inquiry Agency (FIA) has discovered a human trafficking network in Gujarat that involves a mother named Ghulam Fatima and her three boys in a ground-breaking inquiry that was launched in the wake of the Mauritanian boat tragedy.
After arresting Fatima and questioning her, FIA officers discovered a new trafficking route that goes through Senegal instead of the traditionally known routes through the UAE, Egypt, and Libya, The News said on Saturday.
After disputes with local smugglers over extra payments, those who were duped were promised admittance into Spain from Mauritania but instead perished at sea in the terrible boat incident. This new route charged prospective migrants between Rs2.5 and Rs4 million each, taking advantage of Senegal’s comparatively simple visa application process.
