What’s in a name? Apparently, quite a lot, if your name is Olivia or Liam.
These two names are once again the most popular baby girl and baby boy names in America for the fifth consecutive year, according to the Social Security Administration’s (SSA) 2023 report, which was released on Friday.
“I was not surprised at all,” Colleen Slagen, a professional baby name consultant in Boston, told the News.. “For starters, familiarity breeds similarity. So, the more we hear something like a name, whether consciously or unconsciously, the more we enjoy it.”
As a Mother’s Day homage, the Social Security Administration releases the top 1,000 baby names each year. The complete list can be found at ssa.gov/babynames, where you can put in any name to see where it.
