According to a New York Times report published last week, Russia has developed nuclear capability for use in space.
US officials urged for the declassification of information about a “serious national security threat” involving a “destabilizing foreign military capability.”
Other media outlets also referenced the story, which alleged “Russian efforts to develop a space-based anti-satellite nuclear weapon.”
However, they also stated that the weapon would not be used to attack humans and that it was not yet operational, “calling the matter serious but not an immediate threat.”
