The Friday massacre in the Russian capital claimed the lives of at least 133 people.
The extremist organization operating in central Asia has a branch called Islamic State Khorasan (IS-K), and it has taken responsibility for the incident.
When asked if the events of Friday should worry the rest of Europe, including the UK, Mr. Hunt replied, “Absolutely,” on Sunday Morning With Trevor Phillips.
He went on, “We are really fortunate to have highly effective intelligence agencies in our nation, which have stopped and neutralized numerous terrorist threats in recent years.
When asked if there was a possibility that the threat level for the UK will be increased, Mr. Hunt responded that this was determined by a “special system” within the government and that he was not aware of their conversations.
“I am aware that they will be examining this type of event,” Mr. Hunt stated. “They will also be examining the intelligence that GCHQ, our own intelligence agencies, MI5 and MI6, are gathering.”
