Bryson, who changed gender while waiting to stand trial, was last year convicted for eight years for raping two women in West Dunbartonshire and Glasgow while known as Adam Graham.
Bryson was first detained in segregation in Cornton Vale Women’s Prison, which is located close to Stirling, while she awaited punishment, per Scottish Prison Service (SPS) guidelines at the time.
After a public uproar, Bryson was promptly transferred to the male estate, and the scandal surrounded the last few weeks of Nicola Sturgeon’s tenure as first minister.
Around the same time that the Scottish parliament decided to make it simpler for transgender individuals to change their officially recognized sex, there was a dispute.
The UK government ultimately prevented the controversial Gender Recognition Reform (Scotland) Bill from becoming law, and Holyrood has since withdrawn further legal action to challenge the overruling. “No, that is not a different position,” CC Farrell responded when News questioned her about the gender policy of the force. The position is exactly the same, exactly.” Still, it is unclear if that has always been the case in light of a leaked document obtained by News. The internal file from last year, titled Sex and Gender, discussed Bryson’s potential release from prison.
