Only 20 persons have completed the Tennessee-based Barkley Marathons since they were expanded to 100 miles in 1989, including Jasmin Paris.
On Friday, she finished the race with 99 seconds remaining before the 60-hour deadline.
Scotland’s Midlothian native Jasmin expressed her desire to push her own boundaries and serve as an inspiration to others.
Every year, the Frozen Head State Park race consists of five loops that are around 20 miles (32 km) long and have ascents and descents of 60,000 feet (18,000 meters) high, which is twice the height of Mount Everest from sea level.
The 40-year-old told News that, as she got closer to the finish line, she realized she only had a few minutes left to finish within the 60-hour time limit.
It took me just a few minutes to climb that hill. After scorching through the jungle for 60 hours, I had to sprint, which felt incredibly difficult,” the woman remarked.
There’s not much of a trail on the way, and she had to push through brambles that have left her arms and legs covered in scratches.
