LAHORE: On Sunday, the Punjab Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) announced that the provinces would likely see deluges of rain for the next few days, up till Muharram 9 (July 16).
A PDMA representative advised the organizers of mourning processions to monitor the weather closely because strong storms were predicted to batter the province both tonight and on Muharram 8 and 9 (July 15 and 16).
Additionally, the rescue agency was instructed by the PDMA to remain vigilant, especially on the days specified earlier.
The spokesman cautioned against approaching electrical poles and cables. The official added that nullahs and river crossings should be avoided, and that majalis shouldn’t be conducted on dilapidated roofs.
Dera Ghazi Khan’s hilly areas were expected to flood, according to the Punjab disaster management organization.
It should be mentioned that the province saw significant rainfall on Friday in a number of cities, including Lahore, which broke a 30-year record with 315 millimeters of rain, leaving the city totally submerged in water.
A flood alarm fact sheet, which includes information on the monsoon rains situation and the water levels in rivers, barrages, and dams throughout Punjab, was previously released by the PDMA.
Twelve people lost their lives as a result of the intense rains, 14 dwellings were damaged, and 27 people—three women, four men, and five children—were hurt.
In addition, lightning in Multan and Narowal killed three individuals.
