Alexey Navalny, a jailed critic of the Kremlin, appeared via video link to a Moscow court to present his case against the Siberian penal colony where he is being imprisoned. He described the “freezing” circumstances inside his prison. Speaking before the Supreme Court in Moscow, the opposition leader detailed the inhumane circumstances he is facing in Artic jail, to which he was moved last month. He claimed to be subjected to frigid temperatures and a 10-minute meal restriction. “Eating in ten minutes is not possible,” he informed the Moscow Supreme Court justice. “Eating within 10 minutes of each other every day makes this meal a fairly complicated process.” He went on, “The punishment cell is frequently an extremely cold place.
