Amidst protests from the opposition, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz spoke before the Punjab Assembly and briefed the House on the policies her government is implementing.
She said that the opposition was shouting, “Zulm ke ye zaabte, hum nahi maante,” when the Punjabi administration had completed 100 days in office. They were addressed by Maryam Nawaz, who warned them to sit down to avoid sore throats.
She added that the first budget for the fiscal year 2024–25 had been given by the administration, which claimed it to be the biggest budget in Punjabi history. She went on to say that this was the first time the province’s citizens had not been taxed.
