The Wireless and Internet Service Providers Association of Pakistan (WISPAP) has attributed the phenomenon of internet users in Pakistan experiencing access and speed issues to heightened security and surveillance, which could have severe economic ramifications.
“For our consumers, the situation is quite disheartening. Since they can no longer afford the subpar service, many customers are switching from the smaller ISPs. WISPAP Chairman Shahzad Arshad stated on Thursday that “we will see a mass exodus of businesses from Pakistan if this continues.”
The WISPAP chairman elaborated on the current situation, adding that internet speeds had decreased by 30% to 40%, which had a disastrous impact on people and organizations that depend on dependable online connectivity.
