Rana Tanveer Hussain, the federal minister for production and industries, has denied rumors that the Utility Stores Corporation (USC) may soon close.
The Managing Director and the Secretary for Industries and Production were part of the USC delegation that the minister met with and gave them assurances.
He added that safeguarding the interests of public servants will always be a top concern and that any restructuring will require discussions with all pertinent parties.
Mr. Tanveer clarified that the government is considering a number of options for the USC’s restructuring, even if there are no intentions to close it down. Creating a new subsidy system to improve transparency is part of this.
