A group of transgender people vandalized the Saddar Police Station in Kharian tehsil of the Gujrat district on Sunday, allegedly due to allegations of torture and unlawful imprisonment.
Details state that some transgender people were being stopped by police late at night as they were heading home from a function when they attempted to inspect their bodies.
When the transgender people refused to have their bodies searched, a physical altercation broke out between them and the police on the road. The transgender people were allegedly tortured by the paramilitary troops when they moved them to the police station.
Following notification, dozens of transgender people under the leadership of their “guru” stormed the police station, hurling rocks and damaging the property.
