An horrific event occurred in Chesterfield, Derbyshire, where a man was attacked viciously by his 44-kg American XL Bully dog—a breed that is illegal in Wales and the UK.
The frightening attack happened in October, leaving the man with eight stitches in his vagina and 32 in his arms. The man was the target of the dog, Envie, which also bit Lynsey Kelly in the shin.
The pair recently talked about the painful experience after originally being reluctant to talk about it.
Kelly described the terrifying moment as follows: “He was writhing on the floor and said ‘it’s grabbed my b*ks,'” she recalled. Envie then grabbed the man by the arm and turned on his groin.
Kelly, showing incredible bravery, contained the vicious dog in a room and quickly drove her wounded companion to the hospital in an ambulance. The man had emergency surgery to reattach his amputated testicles.
While Kelly continues to heal from her bite wounds, Envie suffered a horrible end when she was put to death after the attack, according to the Metro story. This event occurs just before the XL Bully dog ban, which is scheduled to go into effect on Sunday.
The decision was made by the UK government in September in reaction to an increase in this breed’s lethal attacks.
Under the recently modified Dangerous Dog Act, having an XL Bully dog without a certificate of exemption will be illegal in England and Wales as of February 1.
