On Sunday, the European Space Agency (ESA) posted a video on the news social media site that it said was obtained by its “fireball camera.”.
The agency described the blue light blazing across the sky over the western Spanish city of Caceres as a “stunning meteor” traveling at approximately 28 miles per second.
However, it later stated that the light came from a “small piece of a comet” rather than a meteor.
The comet fragment eventually burned up over the Atlantic Ocean.
“The likelihood of any meteorites being found is very low,” the European Space Agency stated.
