More than two million people have signed a petition on Parliament’s website accusing Labour of violating commitments and demanding a fresh general election, which is the third-highest number since 2010.
With over 100,000 signatures, the petition is likely to be discussed in Parliament without calling for a new election.
On ITV’s This Morning, Sir Keir responded to a question regarding the petition by saying, “There will be plenty of people who didn’t want us in the first place… my focus is on the decisions that I have to make every day.”
The prime minister claimed that he had chosen to “take the hard decisions first” since he had “inherited a lot of problems” from the previous administration.
