ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice Aamer Farooq of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) harshly criticized the government and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Wednesday for their disrespect for the rights of the people during and following the demonstration on November 24.
“PTI was wrong, and so was the government,” the IHC CJ said in response to a traders’ contempt suit, casting doubt on both sides’ conduct.
The administration was criticized by Justice Farooq for closing Islamabad, saying, “You were supposed to maintain peace, but you locked down the entire city.”
Since the PTI founder called for a demonstration, the current administration has acted to prevent the demonstrators from traveling to and entering the nation’s capital.
