In an effort to win over voters and secure a commanding lead over their opponents, political parties across the nation have intensified their campaigns as the nation prepares for the elections on February 8.
Even though fewer people have cast ballots in the general elections that have followed, certain candidates, including former prime minister Imran Khan, have managed to secure seats by garnering the most votes in the 2018 election.
Candidates with the most number of votes received
After garnering 165,835 votes in the NA-87 constituency, Chaudhry Shaukat Ali Bhatti of the PTI won the most votes in the 2018 general elections.
Imran Khan, the founder of the Pakistan Tea Party (PTI) and a former cricket player turned politician, ran in NA-95 and received 165,518 votes, which was the second-highest total of any candidate.
Tahir Sadiq, a PTI candidate, ran in the 2018 election from NA-56 and received 164,178 votes, placing him third overall.
