In an interview with the radio program New & Approved, Steve Lukather, guitarist for Toto, shared his thoughts on Rivers Cuomo.
The latter’s band, Weezer, covered their song “Africa,” which he mentions in his remarks. It became their biggest hit in years, taking the top spot on their alternative songs list and peaking at No. 51 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Lukather clarified, “I don’t know about him loving the song, man,” indicating that he is unsure of Cuomo’s true feelings on the song. That isn’t the case, in my opinion. I believe he did it to vent his frustration, and now it’s blowing up in his face.
