Before he joined the U.S. Space Force in 2020, former Lieutenant Colonel Matt Lohmeier served in the military for more than 10 years, with a focus on missile warning systems. But he felt “betrayed,” he said in an interview with the News less than a year later, in May 2021.
Because he thought DEI training was separating the troops and lowering morale, which had an impact on military readiness, Lohmeier publicly opposed the program. He thinks “the DEI industry… is steeped in critical race theory, is rooted in anti-American, Marxist ideology.”
“The blow was severe,” he claimed, alluding to his purported termination due to his divergent opinions. “It makes you feel like you’ve been betrayed.”
theThe “gut punch” he received when he lost his pension, he said.
You serve the American people and your country with your life; you do not do this for financial gain. You’re acting on this conviction that the American ideal is superior. And while they appear to care about tolerance and diversity—but not variety of thought—senior officials [then] say, ‘We want you out of the way because your position is not welcome here,’ he said.
